Findlater Castle – 15 minutes

There isn’t much left of Findlater Castle, but its worth a visit for its impressive positioning on the side of a cliff. Please take extra care if you go down to the castle, it is dangerous. (Free, accessible all year)

Huntly Castle – 40 minutes drive

Largely a ruin but with parts you can go into and explore.

Balvenie Castle – 40 minutes drive

A ruin but worth a visit if you’re visiting Glenfiddich.

Duffus Castle – 45 minutes drive

A ruin but great fun to explore! (Free, donations welcome. Accessible all year)

Delgatie Castle, Turriff – 45 minutes drive

A quirky, homely feeling castle, with a cafe in the Victorian kitchen

Ballindalloch Castle – 50 minutes drive

An impressive castle with guided tours, with spectacular gardens. Take a picnic!

Fyvie Castle, Fyvie – 55 minutes drive

Guided tours with tales of ghosts!

Brodie Castle – 60 minutes drive

Guided tours and a very impressive library.

Tolquhorn Castle, Fyvie – 70 minutes drive

An impressive ruin, with rumored ghosts and spooky goings on!


Historical Buildings

Duff House, Banff – 25 minutes

A historic house with guided tours and quite often exhibitions on. Great cafe and play park for kids.

Elgin Cathedral – 30 minutes

Burnt to the ground by the infamous Wolf of Badenoch, there is still much to see of this impressive Cathedral.

Spynie Palace, Elgin – 40 minutes drive

A ruin, climb David’s Tower to admire the view from the top!
